Pay attention! With age comes wisdom, they say. But women in the Baby Boomer generation may be the exeption to the rule. We just don't seem to understand our cancer risk.

If you read nothing else in our blog, READ this!

According to a new Harris Interactive Poll, 75% of us don't know that being over 50 is the primary risk for breast cancer. Just age!

Only 37% of us are concerned about developing breast cancer as we get older.

71% of women surveyed rank family history as the biggest risk factor. Actually that accounts for only 15% of breast cancer cases.

Almost a third of us think it's ok to skip mammograms as you get older. That's just not true.

Here are a set of intimidating numbers:

  • By age 40 the risk of developing breast cancer is one out of 208.
  • By age 60,the risk jumps to one out of 24.
  • By age 80, the risk is one out of 14.

It's critically important that you get yourself up to date, both on the facts that could save your life, and on your mammograms. Make an appointment right now.

Find out more from Strength in Knowing. The only thing worse than knowing you may have breast cancer...is NOT knowing.
