I stumbled over this silly comment while surfing. Tell me, do you know any grandparents who fit this description? What a crock.
Tired, Unimaginative Grandparents Responsible For Animation Glut
"By our count, the major Hollywood studios have released 107 films featuring computer-animated, talking animals since January of this year, a numbing procession of disappointing, nearly indistinguishable offerings like The Wild, The Ant Bully, Barnyard, A Prairie Home Companion, Over the Hedge, Akeelah and the Bee, and Garfield: Lasagna Inspector that's clogged the multiplex and mostly failed to capture the imaginations of children accustomed to being mindlessly entertained by wisecracking CGI critters. Today's NY Times takes a look at the animation glut currently reaching critical mass, which threatens to confuse--and worse, bore--their core audience, but which for the time being is still producing product that achieves its primary goal: giving grandparents a way to keep this generation of ADHD-addled kids quiet in between Ritalin doses..."
Homeless seniors -- sad situation. U-C San Francisco researchers spent 14 years studying and keeping tabs on city homeless. Conclusion is, the profile age is increasing. Other cities see the same thing happening and it's obvious that the stuff that plagues us as we age is only that much worse if we're living in the street or in a car. Lisa Leff of the AP wrote, "Hospitals and nonprofits in several cities have created wards in low-income hotels. They're being used for those too sick to be on the street, but not sick enough to be in the hospital."

This is an unthinkable today, but in the future, 100 can be pretty young," Robert M Goldman, chairman of the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine, told a conference on the resort island of Bali. Stem cells, nanotechnology, genetic engineering and therapeutic cloning are being used in the relatively new field of anti-aging medicine. Medical breakthroughs hold out the prospect of living longer and healthier lives, with current life span norms set to be turned on their head.
Barbie and Ken are nearly as old as we are. But probably worth more, ounce for ounce. Christie's held an auction for charity in London...Barbie dolls brought in more than $200,000. One poor buxom Barb with green ears and a greasy face brought $3 becasue she was a first model doll. The top price was $5400 and change. Do you think Matell ever had a clue they'd created something so enduring. And expensive??
