I know a woman in her 70s still being mom. She's raising her 9 year-old great-grandson! She raised her own daughter and her granddaughters. She's a special woman but not unique. Chances are, many of you are doing the same thing, and, like her, finding there aren't many resource to help.
Of course, there's a lot of love involved - in both directions. BUt the situation can be loaded with pitfalls. Anger is often a part of the equation. It's important to understand what your rights and obligations are. You need good representation and a good, reliable source of legal advice. You need to know what is available to you and your non-traditional family, and what is not. Above all, you'll need other people who understand what your and your grandchild's life is like - the good and the bad.
Read my article about a grassroots solution and you may find power by joining forces, seeking out other parenting grands.
